FS#36880 - Vendetta prepull

Hello!
Currently, you can use Vendetta in Assassination and swap specialization and keep the Vendetta damage bonus in Combat/Subtlety. This is not supposed to work.

As a disclaimer there is, as far as we can tell after going through hundreds of logs and MMOChampion pages, no discrete evidence that it worked or didn’t work for the MoP era. There is one post talking about it in past tense but I will feature that below. As Aithne says, absence of evidence is not evidence of absence, however it’s also hard to find a mention of something that didn’t exist. No point speaking about something that doesn’t work, sort of speak.
That being said there are a lot of indicators that it was not supposed to work and I will try to fit all of them in this post.

1. One indication is the aura interrupt flag on Vendetta, AURA_INTERRUPT_FLAG2_TALENT_SPEC_SWITCH. I don’t think I need to add anything as to how this can be an indication that using Vendetta and then switching specializations shouldn’t work.

2. This comment from 5.4 on MMOChampion talks about using Vendetta in past tense (specifically referring to Cataclysm era), and nobody in the thread corrects him, which they would’ve if it still worked.
“You could also vendetta a target, change spec and it would still be up without pulling.”

3. This is more of a logic based argument as to why it didn’t work. For example, the T12 2p prepull for Warriors was widespread in 5.4 logs and was used since T13, and was therefore, in a way, used in the same time span as Vendetta, roughly. However Vendetta cannot be seen being used in the top 200 Chinese or US/EU logs on Iron Juggernaut 25HC. We know from logs that Vendetta was used quite extensively in T13 and there is no reason why people would’ve just stopped using it in MoP, as we can see on the Warrior prepull, where it kept being used all throughout the expansion. Vendetta once again became a thing in Highmaul and was quickly fixed, but there is again no reason why the playerbase just forgot about it for two years during Mists of Pandaria. This becomes increasingly suspicious as Ashvael from Method (previously For The Horde) had logs on World of Logs in Dragon Soul of himself using Vendetta and swapping specialization on Ultraxion, however none of his kills in all of Siege of Orgrimmar had Vendetta in them.

Dragon Soul report 2asn130hb94jiwn6 contains Ashvael using Vendetta as shown by:

"spell": 79140, "subType": 1, "type": 4
"spell": 79140, "subType": 3, "type": 4
"spell": 79140, "subType": 2, "type": 6

There's just no way it's been working in Cataclysm and suddenly all the rogues just ditched it during MoP, then started using it again back in Highmaul. You can clearly see in logs that rogues have been using this exploit in January 2015. It had been hotfixed by February 2015 according to this thread: https://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/1690872-a-question-about-spec-changing-before-pull Just take a look at these: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/character/eu/twisting-nether/noxe?zone=8&new=true#zone=6 There's no sign of this being present in any logs from MoP.

Pls fix

Imagine crying if your exploit (abused knowingly or not) gets reported or fixed LOL (or should i say KKEW?).

Cat commented on 28.05.2021 15:31

First of all, my life is all but boring, believe me. :)
Second of all, I'm positive I beat all rogues on pretty much any given fight even with fucked up bugs like Demonic Calling on my Demonology so I'm not mad about that, either.

It's amusing to see how bound and dependant people are on bugs to perform well and it's quite satisfying to get troglodytes like you crying about me reporting them when it should be peoples 'duty' to report other classes exploits. It's just unfortunate we got this flag data and so on so late into the expansion, as you have surely gotten muscle memory from the prepull binds by now.

P.S. I don't think it's that logical for you to talk about how my life sucks and all that when you're the one who goes on my bug report of a very legitimate bug, and proceeds to go "boohoo you're not allowing me to cheat in this video game I play for fun as a hobby".

Wasn't AURA_INTERRUPT_FLAG2_TALENT_SPEC_SWITCH present on a ton of random buffs for seemingly no reason though? That doesn't seem to be good evidence to me, it could just as easily be boilerplate code. Your other two points seem fine though.

Not to say prepulls shouldn't be removed, remove them all imo.

Prophet commented on 28.05.2021 20:16

@Ray: We've gone over a bunch of the buffs that had that flag with Snowflake, and all of the ones we covered did get removed by respeccing on retail.

I simply cant understand, what are all these prepull bugreport about... are the people simply envy at the dps of others classes or why? there are so big differences between the dps of all classes, it doesnt matter..

In my opinion, every + dps what u can gain, help your team / your guild... just cant understand when comes that point to someone, when he are starting to write a bug report because his teammate has some extra damage at the fights.
I use all the prepulls that i can, because its a big help to the raid, no because i wanna be the top1 dps

Look at the warlocks, encha shamans, incredeable burst and damage for a fight.

And what i fint laughable and not correct, that these report are 4 year after MoP started... until all of you abused these bugs ( if they are bugs ) noone cryed and wrote bugtracker tickets 20 times. Interesting isnt it?

Cat commented on 30.05.2021 11:37

As I have said to the various rocket scientists such as yourself who's been harassing me ingame for the past few days, it's very hard to file bug reports without proper evidence. The flag for example, was found only a few months ago. And as I said above, I shit on both Rogues and Shamans when it comes to DPS on my Warlock, so it's obviously not due to envy, either.

I think the main problem with this is that, where do you draw the line between what should work and what shouldn't? If I found a bug with Affliction that makes them do 30% increased damage with Dark Soul on top of the haste buff, would you want that to be reported? If you do, you're just a hypocrite. If you don't like bugs (both negative and positive) getting fixed, I genuinely don't think Tauri's a good place for you.

Also, one more "you don't even play anymore xddddd" and "you exploited this 4 years ago xddd" and I'm genuinely going to file you for a psych evaluation.

Fulminante-Tauri commented on 31.05.2021 09:19

Dave-tauri
There are already many quality bugs which help you during the raid. That fact doesn’t mean that we need them. Use them as long as you are able, because some bosses would be harder for casual raiders.
