FS#19858 - travel form wild charge acts like heroic leap
On retail, travel form wild charge adds velocity to the player, as can be seen here at 0:36. On tauri-wow evermoon, it chooses a location in front of the player, and triggers an animation similar to heroic leap, as can be seen here.
This has implications for PVP, and world travel. In PVP, wild charge is useful for escaping and in world travel it is useful for jumping across gaps. In its current form, it doesn’t serve either of these purposes.

After crash/restart
That's a beta video and the spell was changed since... http://mop-shoot.tauri.hu/?search=wild+charge#spells
the beta version is how the spell worked all throughout MoP
here's a video from early warlords of draenor (patch 6.0.3) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTGnugmlmkk - at 1:30 you can see it's a leap forwards (same as the MoP beta version) and not a ground-targeted leap (like in the video i recorded)
the reason why i'm showing a WoD video is because
- the spell did not see any changes inbetween 5.2.0 and 7.0.4 (as can be seen in the wowhead changelog for the spell https://www.wowhead.com/spell=102417/wild-charge#changelog ), so it's safe to assume this is how it worked in mid-to-late MoP.
- i could not find any other videos demonstrating the spell
you can tell it's WoD because of
- the levels of the patrolling guard (in the video at 2:20 - 2:25) being 100 + having the new WoD model
- the talents shown at 2:25 containing the level 100 row added in WoD
- the date of the video being the release date of patch 6.0.3 - https://www.google.com/search?q=which%20wow%20version%20was%20october%2027%202014 - there were no private servers for WoD available at this time
- the character health is a lot lower due to the WoD stat squish
i hope this is enough evidence
But this spell is not ground targeted on Tauri either, it just... pushes you forward a couple yards. I cannot see ANY differences in Jade Forest from the video you linked... And I did go to the same spot.
I really don't understand what the issue is here.
Here is the difference in a video.
First demonstration is from Tauri, second demonstration is from a different private server. I hope this is acceptable.
The second part is closer to retail, where the player receives forward+upward momentum, and then gravity+collision takes care of the rest. On tauri, it chooses a location for you, and puts you there as if you casted warriors heroic leap in that position.
The reason why this is an issue is because that means the same pathing restrictions that apply to heroic leap also apply to wild charge, except that with wild charge, you have no control over the targeted location. I have also gotten the "no suitable path found" error a few times when trying to use wild charge, which didn't happen on retail, because the spell didn't use any pathing.
Agreed. This can be game-breaking in arenas when you try to fake-jump off of the Blade's Edge bridge for example.
The issue is that the Travel form Wild Charge acts as a Heroic Leap. It should act as a hunter's disengage but not backwards. I think, correct me if I'm wrong.
Very crooked works, here's the video as it should be.
